Angelos Pachis

Angelos joined The Information Lab after completing his MSc in Composite Materials at Imperial College London. Although his first encounter with large datasets came during his MEng in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering, it was not until his MSc that he realised how the engineering community lacks the knowledge to effectively communicate information to the rest of the world.
Finding out about Tableau & Alteryx through a Meet and Greet event, Angelos immediately knew that his next career step would be in data analytics. After undertaking several hours of online training in Tableau, he decided to join the Data School and become a Tableau and Alteryx expert.

Dashboard Week Day 4 : Childhood Obesity in the UK

Rumour has it that there has been lots of complaining from DS18 about the first three days of our Dashboard Week. The reason? Those three days were more about data preparation in Alteryx than dashboarding. This is indeed very very true but, who cares?? Alteryx is...

Creating Maps with Alteryx | The Report Map Tool (Part I)

People that know me in the Data School are aware that there is one thing I really find irresistible in visualisations. And that is.... maps! ❤ I don't really know how or why I grew fond of maps. Genuinely, I consider them one of the best ways of visualise data. They...

Why you need and how to create a shaded slope chart

Why you need and how to create a shaded slope chart

Slope graphs are a very neat way to visualise how a measure evolved over distinct time intervals or between distinct categories. That measure might be a numerical value or ranks of that value, but that's always down to the designer's preference. In this blog post, I...
