Having grown up in a family of mathematicians (think mental maths problems instead of bedtime stories), Valerija has always enjoyed dealing with numbers. However, she also enjoyed a lot of other things, and after graduating with a first class honours degree in Spanish and German from the University of St Andrews and a Master’s degree in Management, Valerija spent two years working as an events operations manager at a five-star hotel in London before moving into an administrative role at a global sales organisation. Having worked in various industries, Valerija particularly enjoyed having the opportunity to develop new skills as well as the possibility to see how her input enables the business to drive value. Working closely with the Sales Operations and the Sales Enablement teams in her last company, Valerija realised that being able to make data-driven decisions is key in the modern business world and decided to take a new step in her career by joining the Data School.
Valerija speaks five languages, has been on month-long hiking trips in Mexican rainforests and Tien Shan mountains, and used to be a teenage karate fighter competing in national and international championships.
