Elaine Yuan

After teaching English abroad in Taiwan and Japan, Elaine discovered her passion for data analytics through a data analytics bootcamp in New York City. Since then, she has built a career turning complex data into clear analytical solutions that help teams uncover insights, improve processes, and reduce manual work. Elaine enjoys collaborating with stakeholders to iteratively develop intuitive dashboards, combining thoughtful design with technical expertise to support data-driven decision making.

Most recently, at Vanguard, Elaine developed and documented Tableau dashboards for data quality checks, job monitoring, and JIRA reporting. She also enhanced a reconciliation dashboard, reducing a three-week manual process to about three days, and automated reporting with Excel macros, Power Automate, and Tableau, saving hundreds of hours of manual effort. Her work has helped teams improve data reliability, increase visibility, and reduce time spent on manual reporting.

Previously, Elaine worked as a Tableau Developer at Fremont Bank and Irvine Company. At the Irvine Company, she built the first Customer 360 dashboard, automated data pipelines with Alteryx, streamlined executive reporting, and supported a Tableau Cloud migration of over 1000 users. At Fremont Bank, she automated commercial loan reporting, improving reporting frequency from monthly to daily, while saving about 75 hours of manual work each month.

As an active member of the #datafam community, Elaine is a Tableau Ambassador (2024-2026) and co-leads the API (Asian Pacific Islander) Tableau User Group in North America. In her free time, Elaine enjoys playing board games, trying new foods and cuisines, browsing her local Buy Nothing group, and planning her next travel excursion.
