Freya Marijatta

Freya graduated from the University of Oxford with an MSc and PhD in Neuroscience, investigating the neural circuits underlying dopamine. She created complete data pipelines in Python, collecting neural data from mice, cleaning and transforming it, creating custom visualisations, and carrying out statistical analyses in R. After finishing her PhD, she wanted to spend more time wrangling data and developing meaningful insights than hunching over a lab bench, and so decided to pivot from science to data analytics.

In her recent role at a global air freight company, she has delivered tangible impact by:

  • Diagnosed hidden issues in complex SQL pipelines and delivered urgent fixes, assuring accurate revenue reporting worth tens of millions of Euros

  • Streamlined reporting to hundreds of users, including C-suite, through building and managing automated Tableau reports

  • Overhauled a poorly designed and inefficient Sales dashboard, decreasing load times of ~2 minutes by 90%

  • Delivered Tableau training to 15 non-technical internal stakeholders, increasing Tableau literacy within the company

When she's not thinking about data, she's been known to dressmake, write novels, perform at international jazz festivals, and spend an inadvisable amount of time playing video games.
