Freya graduated from the University of Oxford with an MSc and PhD in Neuroscience, investigating the neural circuits underlying dopamine. She created complete data pipelines in Python, collecting neural data from mice, cleaning and transforming it, creating custom visualisations, and carrying out statistical analyses in R.
After finishing her PhD, she wanted to spend more time wrangling data and developing meaningful insights than hunching over a lab bench, and so decided to pivot from science to data analytics. She greatly enjoys the intellectual challenge posed by data preparation using tools such as Alteryx and SQL, but also relishes the creative challenge of building dashboards in Tableau and Power BI to tell compelling visual stories.
When she's not thinking about data, she's been known to dressmake, write novels, perform at international jazz festivals, and spend an inadvisable amount of time playing video games.
