June 6th was my first day at the Data School, and now it's already week three. The number of things we have learned so far feels surreal. In the first week, we sat at the DS32’s client presentation. I remember sitting there and longing for the day when I would be that comfortable working with Tableau Desktop.

At the end of the week, we had a presentation on Data Architecture Diagrams. I liked this project because, sometimes we work with data but do not understand how it works, where it lives, and how it is stored.

In the first few days at the Data School, it is important to create a SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound) goal outlining what skills you would like to develop, how you would work to master those skills, and what you would like to be known for. There will be a lot of learning. In the first few weeks, you might not know what skills you would like to focus on improving yet. However, as you are introduced to all the materials. You might want to take a step back and identify what you are good at and what is holding you back. To build on your strengths and improve your weaknesses. It’s also good to document your journey, so you can see how much you have learned.

It takes a lot of practice to master a skill, which is what the placements are for. You are not expected to have everything figured out. I believe that once you start gaining more experience, things will become clearer. Take it one step at a time.
