Reflecting on a Project Handover: Enhancements and Learning Points

After receiving a project handover, which involved diving into a job role to determine tasks and decisions before creating user stories and worksheet ideas, we were tasked to embark on a journey to incorporate client feedback and sketch a detailed dashboard. Here’s a reflection on the process:

Achievements:

  • Effective Time Management: I allocated my time wisely, ensuring each part of the brief was addressed thoroughly.
  • Granular User Stories: By refining the user stories, I was able to provide a more detailed description of the requirements, which led to the creation of specific and actionable charts.
  • Chart Interactivity: I focused on how each chart would aid in decision-making for each user story, enhancing the dashboard's utility.

What I learned:

  • Presentation Clarity: Presentations can delve too deeply into the details. Presentations benefit from a minimalistic approach, focusing on the core message and possibly showcasing just the dashboard itself - manage the audiences attention!
  • Business Perspective: Emphasis on business considerations when designing charts make the dashboard more relevant and actionable.
  • Defining Success: Clarifying what constitutes "good" in the context of the dashboard and its metrics will improve understanding and applicability, while removing ambiguous descriptions - think if someone will need to take over your project!
