Taming Transpose & Crosstab: Alteryx Challenge 49

by Joe Kernaghan

The aim of this challenge was to switch the format so that the product information was shown in rows as opposed to columns.

The input had the Market, Product and Type categories in the first 3 rows, so the first step was to separate the first 3 rows from the data using the sample tool. Both were then transposed to get the values into a single column. There were some leading spaces that needed to be cleansed in the first 3 rows, the rest of the data was fine as it was.

The crosstab function was then used to get the appropriate titles for the columns, they could then be joined on name.
