How to get better at Alteryx with weekly challenges

Alteryx weekly challenges are a great way to practice your Alteryx skills and learn new techniques. Here are some tips and information to help you get the most out of these challenges:

  • Join the Alteryx Community: The Alteryx Community is a great resource for Alteryx users, and it's where you'll find the weekly challenges. Join the community and start participating in the challenges.
  • Follow the rules: Each challenge has a set of rules that you should follow. Make sure you read and understand the rules before submitting your solution. If you don't understand what is being asked, don't be discouraged, several challenges are, sadly, not very clear. Look at the forum post for discussion, chances are someone else already answered your questions there.
  • Use best practices: Follow best practices when building your workflows. This includes using proper naming conventions, adding comments to your workflows, and using macros when appropriate.
  • Explore the tools: Alteryx has a vast array of tools, and each challenge is an opportunity to explore new tools and techniques. Try to use as many different tools as possible to broaden your knowledge. We often tend to use the tools we know best, but to keep yourself sharp, try to learn to do the same thing in different ways, with a different set of tools.
  • Ask for help: If you get stuck on a challenge, don't hesitate to ask for help. The Alteryx Community is full of knowledgeable users who are happy to help. Looking at other people's answers is also a good way to learn, but remember that this is your last resource!
  • Practice regularly: Consistent practice is key to improving your Alteryx skills. Make it a habit to participate in the weekly challenges or work on your own Alteryx projects regularly.
  • Share your solutions: Share your solutions with the Alteryx Community, and don't be afraid to ask for feedback. This can help you improve your skills and learn from other users. Don't forget to take a screen shot from your flow and post it with a spoiler tag along with your answer.

Remember, the Alteryx weekly challenges are meant to be fun and educational. Don't be discouraged if you don't get everything right the first time. Keep practicing and learning, and you'll soon become an Alteryx expert!
