Journey to the data school.

I was introduced to Tableau in my previous sales role. And quickly realized the potential that it held I quickly got on the phone to the Graduate Recruitment Bureau (well worth a chat), who outlined the application process and sold the role to me by talking about client placements in San Diego and free boxing classes in the morning.

I made a start by making a series of charts, about college major's earnings in the US, using a combination of Youtube and LinkedIn learning ( can't recommend either enough). Having put together what I thought was a respectable attempt I sent my first draft to the GRB and went off for Christmas. I was given a list of potential improvements the main one being to make use of containers to spread out the charts. I then applied with this Viz and received feedback from Luke. I received an invite to a meet and greet which I attended. (Again can't recommend enough) I met some current DSers who were kind enough to help me with my application, and most importantly got free pizza.

After repeated sets of feedback from I was put forward for a virtual interview with the global head coach who put me through to the final round. Our data set was Crime in La 2021-2023. (If you request you will be put in touch with a current data schooler who will give you feedback.) We then had just over a week to put the viz to get there and present in the offices. After a very friendly interview,  nearly 5 months after I had first downloaded Tableau I received a phone call offering me the role.
