How to carry out a client project

Step 1 Kickoff

Prepare for the kickoff call gather a list of questions to ask. It's partially a question of style but it can be considered best practice to give a list to the PM (Project manager ) If the PM has the list of questions this should enable them to turn the process into a conversation rather than an interrogation enabling the team to start building rapport with the client. Once the PM has all the information they need they can open the floor to the rest of the team who can then chip in with any questions that they feel have been missed or have cropped up during the call. The final stage is to set up a follow-up call to show them sketches.

Step 2 Sketch Sketch Sketch

You want to have sketches which as much detail as possible to be able to show the client on Monday afternoon this enables you to show the client what you are thinking. This enables you to iron out any confusion and allows the client to have input into the first iteration. It's key to make changes to the sketches which can then be sent off. This effectively allows you to gain the client's blessing for the direction of your work. Arrange a meeting where you will show them the part-built dashboard.

Step 3 Meeting 3

Here you can show them your partially built dashboard allowing the client a last chance to have a look at what they will be getting.

Step 4 Presentation

Relax! you've done loads practice presentations.  Rehearse your presentation as a team and makes sure that all documents are in the same file/computer in order to smoothly present and dress up smart.

Step 5 Reflection.

As you may have noticed each paragraph gets shorter and shorter. I think this illustrates the fact that a good kickoff call and sketch can set you up well for the rest of the call.
