Today was the last day of data school, and its been a blast. However, this blog isn't about that, this blog is about the importance of checking the brief.

I was unfortunately held up on the tube so arrived in a hurry and didn't fully read the brief for the project today, which focused on financial data. My lack of understanding, and in its place the head down charge to produce an informative dashboard in three hours, left me in a tough spot when it came time to present. Whilst I had covered most of the brief, there were elements that I did not answer. In this scenario that isn't the end of the world, it's just a bad mark on an internal project, but in the real world that could be a big deal. So, my advice from the end of training: Follow the instructions.
