First Client Project Down

Last week marked a major milestone for both myself and my cohort as we embarked on our very first client-facing project. While this was an internal project, it proved to be an incredibly valuable learning experience that helped us develop critical skills in a realistic consultancy setting. It also gave us a clear insight into what to expect when we begin working with external clients in the near future.

For this project, we were introduced to Prep Air, a fictional airline facing performance challenges. The dataset we were given was intentionally complex, designed to test the breadth and depth of everything we’ve learned over the past few weeks of training. It pushed us to think analytically, communicate effectively, and apply our technical knowledge in a business context.

I had the opportunity to work alongside my colleague Amy on the Financial Overview and Expenses section of the report. Together, we built a detailed and interactive Power BI dashboard that directly addressed the client’s key concerns, highlighting inefficiencies and providing actionable insights.

This project not only challenged us technically but also reinforced the importance of collaboration, time management, and stakeholder-focused thinking. One of my key takeaways was learning how to work productively with a partner under time constraints, aligning our ideas and efforts toward a shared goal. I'm proud of what we accomplished, and even more excited for what lies ahead as we prepare to take on real-world clients.
