The point of Dashboard Week is to get the team working very, very quickly through a brand new data set each day. Some days require data prep, some don’t. Some days have complex data, some don’t. It’s a total surprise each morning.
The rules for dashboard week are pretty simple:
- They must work independently, unless otherwise specified.
- If data prep is required, they can use Alteryx or Prep.
- They must create a sketch of their plan for their dashboard and show this during their presentation.
- The dashboard they create must be uploaded to Tableau Public or Power BI Gallery
- They must write a blog post detailing their work throughout the day.
- At 3pm, they will present their data prep, sketch, viz, and anything else they would like to present.
For day 1, DS33 will be analyzing data from The Wine Economics Research Centre. There's a visualization that will give them an idea as to what the data is about.

The data is available here. And supplemental data can be found here.
They must use one of the first two data sets for their analysis, with no more than 4 of them using each data set. They can self-organize. The focus today is on analysis, not design. I want to see insights. If they get to a dashboard, great, but that's not a requirement. I want to learn something new.
Good luck!
