Following the week of UFOs, travel time API and survey data, this week DS27 spent learning predictive analytics, brushing up their consulting skills and exploring PostgreSQL on Tableau Server.
Monday: started the week off strong with predictive analysis. We covered various topics from Machine Learning to AI and spent some time testing the predictive tools on Alteryx. Great and useful session, but you've guessed it right, we all have been knackered by the end of it.
Tuesday: first half of the day was spent learning from the real Tableau Prep ninja and our UK head coach, Carl Allchin, who introduced us to some further functionality of Tableau Prep. We've also connected to the Tableau Server PostgreSQL database and spent the other half of the day exploring it and building Server performance dashboards.
Wednesday: as we are starting our client placements in two weeks it was no surprise to see consultancy 101 on our calendars for the first half of the day. We've spoken about how to manage client expectations, what to expect and were given some useful materials, which I am sure we will all come back to soon enough. The other half of the day we've spent learning PowerBI. My colleague, Carlo, wrote a blog on what he liked and disliked about it. Do check it out here.
Thursday: the day began with a one-hour feedback session with Andy Pick, and was followed by an introduction to the Centre of Excellence, a support group available to The Information Lab clients on our Convo platform. We ended the day with Bene, on what placement support is available for us.
Friday: no client project this week, but we had a Tableau test in the morning and watched the FIRST DS28 client project. Well done, guys!
That pretty much wraps up Week 16 of DS27 training. The 4 months of training passed by in no time and I still can't believe that the next week, is the last one for DS27. Stay tuned!
